How to Use the Football Competition Manager
The Football Competition Manager is a free tool to create and manage football competitions directly in the browser — no account, no install. It supports league, knockout and group stage + knockout formats. All data is stored locally on your device.
Club Setup and Venues
Start by entering the club name and uploading the crest in the header. In the Settings tab, define points for win, draw and loss, and manage the venues available for matches. Tiebreaker criteria are reorderable by drag-and-drop: Points, Head to Head, Goal Difference, Goals Scored, Fewest Fouls and Fair Play.
Opponents with Crest
In the Opponents tab, maintain a reusable list of clubs with name, short code and logo. Opponents are available across all competitions without re-entering data.
Creating Competitions: League, Knockout and Groups + K.O.
- League — Round-robin with automatic fixture generation. Home & away (double round-robin) option.
- Knockout — Bracket generated automatically with extra time, penalty shootout and two-legged ties.
- Groups + Knockout — Group stage followed by knockout bracket with automatic seeding.
Entering Results and Automatic Standings
In the Matches tab, enter the score, date, time and venue for each game. The standings update instantly with configured tiebreaker criteria applied automatically.
Export Standings and Bracket to PDF
The Export PDF button in the Table and Bracket tabs generates a professional PDF with club crest, competition name, season and full statistics table.
Sync Data Between Tools
Each tool stores its data on your device. If you created or changed data (team, opponents and venues) in another SportsLabTools football tool, press Sync data, next to Export, to bring it in here — no need to export and import files. New items are added, changed items take the most recent version and items you deleted in another tool are removed. Data that belongs only to this tool is not affected.
Competition Formats
- League — Championship format with automatic fixtures and full standings table.
- Knockout — Single-elimination bracket with visual tree, extra time and penalty shootout.
- Groups + Knockout — Group stage with automatic seeding followed by a World Cup or Euro-style knockout.
Tips for Coaches and Organisers
- Add opponents before creating the competition so you can select them quickly when setting up teams.
- Use home & away in leagues to simulate a full season with more matches and greater fairness.
- Configure tiebreaker criteria by dragging before generating fixtures — standings apply them automatically.
- Export the standings PDF after each round to share with participating clubs.
- Use different competitions to manage multiple tournaments simultaneously (e.g. league + cup).
Specifics of Amateur 11-a-Side Football Competitions
In district and regional 11-a-side leagues, squad registration usually has a fixed per-season deadline and a limit on how many eligible players can appear per matchday — worth keeping that list outside the tool so you can quickly confirm who's callable before the round closes. In knockout rounds, always confirm whether the tie is single-leg or two-legged: it completely changes how you set up the team (take more risks away from home if defending a still-open scoreline, manage yellow-card accumulation so you don't lose players to suspension in the next round).
