How to Use the Futsal Athlete Journal
The Futsal Athlete Journal is a free individual performance tracking tool for futsal players. No registration, no installation — open it directly in any browser on your phone, tablet or computer. All data is saved automatically on your device. Perfect for athletes who want to track their progress game by game.
Setting Up Your Athlete Profile
Start by entering your name, shirt number and Athlete ID in the header — this ID lets you cross-reference your data with the Action Logger when shared with your coach. Optionally upload your photo and club badge. Then go to Settings to add regular opponents, which will be available when creating new games.
Configuring Categories and Actions
Before logging your first game, set up the action categories you want to track — for example: Shots, Passes, Defensive Actions, Set Pieces. For each category, create specific actions (e.g. Shot on Target, Shot Wide, Accurate Pass). Each action can be configured with:
- Field Location — records where on the pitch the action happened, with automatic heatmaps in statistics
- Goal Location — records where the ball entered the goal (ideal for shots and goalkeeper saves)
- Context Type — individual, collective or no context
Logging Actions in Real Time
With an active game, use the built-in stopwatch to track playing time. Tap the action button to log an event: choose the category and action. If the action has a field location, a pitch map appears to mark the exact spot. If it has a goal location, mark where the ball went in. Every action is saved with the exact timestamp and can be edited or deleted afterwards.
Analysing Your Personal Statistics
The Statistics tab aggregates all recorded data. Filter by game, category or action to analyse your performance. Highlights include:
- Heatmap — automatic visualisation of your most active pitch zones
- Goal Location Map — all shot or save positions on the goal in a single interactive SVG
- Game Comparison — comparative bar chart by game or action
- Category and Action Breakdown — detailed totals with percentages
Exporting a Performance PDF
With a single click on Export PDF, generate a complete performance report with your personal visual identity — name, number, photo and club badge. The PDF includes the heatmap, goal location, comparisons and your full action history. Perfect for sharing with your coach or keeping as a season record.
Importing Data from the Action Logger
If your coach uses the Futsal Action Logger, you can import your game analysis directly into the Journal — just share your Athlete ID and your coach exports your data. All records are integrated into your personal history.
Sync Data Between Tools
Each tool stores its data on your device. If you created or changed data (team, opponents, competitions, games and venues) in another SportsLabTools futsal tool, press Sync data, next to Export, to bring it in here — no need to export and import files. New items are added, changed items take the most recent version and items you deleted in another tool are removed. Data that belongs only to this tool is not affected.
Futsal-Specific Personal Metrics
Beyond generic actions, futsal lets you track metrics specific to the sport: create a category to log which line (quarteto/rotation group) you were on court with for each action, so you can see which combination of teammates gets the best out of you. Also log your own fouls committed per game — in futsal, once the team reaches the sixth accumulated foul the opponent gets a direct free-kick from the second penalty spot, so knowing how much you contribute to that total helps your coach manage your minutes late in each half.
💡 Is your coach tracking your team's actions? The Futsal Action Stats Tracker → is the coach-side tool that pairs with this Journal — ask your coach to assign you an Athlete ID there so you can import match analysis directly into your personal record.
