How to Use the Football Training Planner
The Football Training Planner is a free tool to manage training sessions, games and periodisation for football teams. Runs in the browser, no install required, on any device, with data stored locally.
Team Settings
Set the club name, badge, squad name and season. These details appear on exported PDF documents and report headers.
Managing Agents (Squad)
In the Agents tab, register all team members: players, coaches, directors and staff. Each agent can have a number, category, tags and photo.
Competitions & Games
Create Competitions and log Games for the season with opponent, date, stadium, matchday and result. Manage call-ups directly from each game.
Training Sessions & Exercises
Plan Training Units with date, stadium, level and tags. Each session includes exercise blocks with sets, reps and duration. Log attendance per agent.
Periodisation
Organise the season into Microcycles, Mesocycles and Macrocycles with tags and dates. The Analysis tab generates automatic reports on attendance, tag usage and load distribution.
Export PDF & JSON
Export training calendars, match sheets, analysis reports and exercise notebooks as professional PDF. Import and export data as JSON to sync between devices.
Sync Data Between Tools
Each tool stores its data on your device. If you created or changed data (players, opponents, competitions, games, call-ups and venues) in another SportsLabTools football tool, press Sync data, next to Export, to bring it in here — no need to export and import files. New items are added, changed items take the most recent version and items you deleted in another tool are removed. Data that belongs only to this tool is not affected.

Tips for Football Coaches
- Use Microcycles to organise week by week and keep the load plan visible across the season.
- Add tags to training sessions (e.g. "strength", "technical", "tactical") to filter and analyse distribution by session type in the Analysis tab.
- Link each training session to a Stadium to track travel and the number of sessions per venue.
- Use the interactive pitch in exercises to draw and animate tactical sequences directly in the planner.
- Export the exercise notebook as PDF to share with the coaching staff before the training week.
Standard Football Microcycle Structure (MD-4 to MD+1)
In 11-a-side football with one match per week, most teams organise the microcycle around match day (MD): MD-4 and MD-3 for higher-volume/strength work, MD-2 for sport-specific tactical intensity, MD-1 for activation and set-piece detail, and MD+1 for active recovery. Use the planner's tags to mark each session with its MD label — the Analysis tab then shows whether your load distribution across the season is actually following this pattern, or whether fatigue is building up on days meant to be low intensity.
💡 Complete planning. Pair the Planner with the Tactical Board → to animate the exercises you plan.
